Oliver Knott Organic Peat Moss – Natural pH Reducer for Shrimp Aquariums

Oliver Knott Organic Peat Moss is a premium natural water conditioning media designed to safely lower pH and soften water in freshwater shrimp aquariums and other soft water setups. Made from 100% organic Canadian sphagnum peat moss, it naturally releases beneficial tannins and humic acids, helping recreate the soft, acidic conditions found in many tropical habitats.

As the peat moss works within the aquarium, it binds calcium and magnesium ions while breaking down bicarbonates, reducing carbonate hardness (KH) and general hardness (GH). This creates ideal water conditions for many species of dwarf shrimp, soft water fish and aquatic plants.

Instructions

• Place the desired amount of peat moss into a filter media bag or filter sock.

• Position the bag inside your filter, ideally between the mechanical filter pad and biological media.

• Alternatively, place the filter sock directly in the aquarium near an area of good water flow.

• Increase the amount of peat gradually until your desired pH is achieved.

💡 Tip: Monitor pH regularly and avoid lowering the pH by more than 0.2 units within a 24-hour period to minimise stress on aquatic life.

Please Note: The effectiveness of peat moss will gradually decline as it decomposes. Test your aquarium water regularly and replace the peat moss as required to maintain consistent water parameters. Tannins released into the water may produce a natural amber tint, which is beneficial for many soft water fish and shrimp species.
