Reticulated Tiger Hillstream Loach (sewellia lineolata) - HOME BRED - (SOLD OUT!)

Reticulated Hillstream loaches are the prefect addition for any tanks. These fish are quite hardy and peacul, however are very rare in Australia (from my stance). Growing to ~4cm-6cm in length. These guys are omnivores and eat algae, but also meaty protein foods. I would recommend feeding xtreme algae wafers, as well as frozen blood worms and baby brine shrimp. Bug Buffet and Xtreme Food is the prefect diet for these guys, and is what I feed them to make them breed. 

These guys are best kept in 50L and larger tanks. In groups of no less than 3. They may occasionally spar with each other, however it is not a threat to their health. These fish like to climb. So when keeping these fish ensure that the water level isnt close to the top of the tank (I keep mine 5cm - 7cm from the top). Also ensure you have a tight lid as these fish can and do climb. Unless you want fish jerky on the floor make sure there is a lid!

Many people belive that these fish require powerful flow and cold water. However I disagree. These fish have been bred in a 93L tank with a large sponge filter and some potted plants, with a temprature of 25°C. I have found that with strong powerheads, fry can possibly get sucked up and killed! Large sponge filters provide a suitable airation level and stable flow, opposed to taht of the fast moving power heads.

These fish have very sensitive undersides, fine or smooth gravel/sand is ideal. The tank also should have lots of smooth river stones of varying sizes, creating gaps to hide in. These rocks not only mimic thier habitat, but also add surface area for biolfilm to grow. These fish sometimes are not receptive to pellets, wafers and powder. These fish slither around and sift the tank, eating the alagae and biofilm.
